Do not join if you are too busy.
If you have important things to focus on, such as school, a job, parenting, and so on, then focus on that. Life always comes first. It is also not fair to those of us who can be active if you join and rarely post. That's the sort of thing which holds up the storyline for everyone, and it is not tolerated well here.
Do not join if you are not truly interested.
It is one thing to join us because you are genuinely interested in being part of the storyline. It is another to join just because you're a big cat fanatic. While we all love animals here, it is the story that keeps us going. Not the number of members who lurk. Lurking is not welcome here.
Keep IC separate from OOC.
IC means In Character, or in other words, roleplaying. OOC means Out Of Character, or in other words, real life. If you're mad at someone in real life, don't suddenly have your character act mad at them, too. It is immature and creates a poor social atmosphere. It also takes the story in a direction that would otherwise not happen. This behavior is not tolerated.
Treat someone the way you want to be treated.
If someone starts acting poorly toward you, tell me. Do not take matters into your own hands. You don't have to like each other, but you do have to be polite. If things cannot be resolved between you and the other person, even with me acting as a mediator, then it is possible you will both be banned for creating a poor social atmosphere. Interruption, in the application, where it asks if you read the rules, put the word Snow.
No moding.
Moding is short for godmoding. Our definition of moding is someone who's character can never be harmed, is always aware of what's really going on even though no one else is, or otherwise defeats the purpose of any sort of tension in any story element.
Do not control other characters.
This is a player-consent forum. If someone does not want you doing anything to or with their character, you have no right to do so. Control your own characters only. It is one thing to make an assumption; it is something far different to force an action that may not have been what the other player wanted.
No meta-gaming.
Our definition of meta-gaming is using storyline information to your character's advantage. When we, as players, want to enhance a storyline by adding plot elements, our characters are not supposed to be aware of them. If one player told you that they had a trap set up for your character, your character can not suddenly know that they are being set up. You must play the part the way you were going to before you knew what was going on.
This is a para-RP.
Para-RP stands for Paragraph Roleplaying. That means we post in paragraphs, with a minimum allowance of five sentences per post. If you are new and willing to learn, I will be lax and offer to help teach you until you can catch up. Posts such as “walks in” or “looks around slowly” are not welcome here.
Check in with Roll Call every two weeks.
This is mandatory. I need to know who all is able to post, and who is not. If something has happened and you need to take some time off, let me know, and the chances are good that you'll get it with few questions asked, even if it's time off due to writer's block. I will ease up in situations where your computer and/or internet service is having trouble.
Post at least once every month.
I wish for this forum to remain active, even if that activity is on the slow side. If you can post more often than that, by all means, please do so. If you have been unable to post for a month because you are waiting for other players, do not worry, you will not be fussed at for something you cannot control.
Do not adopt a character if you are not going to play it.
If another player is giving away one of their characters, or the cubs of one of their characters, don't adopt it unless you're going to keep it. And if you get tired of said character, don't just kill it off or stop playing it. Give it back to the original creator.
If you have multiple characters, post for all of them.
There have been people who have joined with tons of characters and only ever posted for a handful of them. This is not tolerated here. If you are unsure of who you need to post for, check the Character Tracking and Posting Order threads. If you have a character that has been inactive for three months and you have not been waiting on someone else to post ahead of you, I will no longer allow you to play that character. You may decide what it's fate is, or if it just becomes an NPC. Second interruption, in the application, where it asks if you read the rules, put the word Leopard.
Use the NPCs.
NPC stands for Non-player character. They are new to this board, but they are starting to play a major role. For example, your character needs to get a message to someone and all the other characters are busy, including yours, use an NPC. Or, if you have a villain who wants to go on a killing spree, but nobody wants their characters to be killed or injured, use an NPC. NPCs are very versatile.
This is a mature game, not an adult game.
This means no pointless sex, and no pointless sexual jokes, or anything similar. Remember, this is the internet. Everyone, including small children, use it these days. Be discreet. If your characters are going to have cubs, make your post as clean and as vague as possible. The same thing goes for rape scenarios.
Interact with everyone.
Don't stick only to your favorite characters and players. Branch out and get to know everyone on the forum. It helps to create a more peaceful social atmosphere, and it can open doors to some great new story ideas.
